Internet and Politics

Using the internet for political campaigning


Social media is a powerful tool to gather people around in a common platform. Politicians cannot ignore the power of social media even if they hate it. This is because too many of us are on social media. It is fastest way to get information thru millions of people in seconds. Way faster than traditional media.

For example Singapore 2015 election, almost all the candidates have a Facebook page, a twitter account or even Instagram.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong posted the on his Facebook page, calling Singaporeans to give him the mandate to take Singapore "beyond SG50, into its next half century".
MacPherson incumbent Tin Pei Ling, who gave birth barely a month ago, promptly put up a post about the issues she had championed in Parliament during her first term as a Member of Parliament.
